Be the pioneer for a new and better world for women

Be the pioneer for a new and better world for women

Today 8 of March, we are celebrating International Women’s Day.  And I would like to take this opportunity to advocate for a new and better world.

A world where we finally achieve equality, diversity, and inclusion.

The world needs to see a genuine approach to change. A change that sees us move towards a more inclusive environment.

We have an opportunity to rewrite the script and invent a new environment today.

EMBRACING CHANGE.

If we want to leverage this opportunity, we have to be ready to embrace change. We have to focus on solving all the injustices so they are not part of our future and be prepared to do something about them.

Dealing with change and uncertainty can be difficult, but it is also essential to grow and keep moving forward.

RECOGNISE VALUE.

We also have to recognise the value of diverse opinions and perspectives. There is a lot of untapped potential out there, particularly in women. There are infinite possibilities as to what these people could achieve if they were given the same opportunities.

CREATE A INCLUSIVE ENVIRONMENT.

We have to focus on creating a new society where women feel empowered and encouraged to speak up.

An environment where they have the same opportunities and where everyone can follow their goals and maximise their potential.

SPORTS AS A VEHICLE

As a coach for the Wales Women’s Rugby 7s team, I help manage an incredibly talented and motivated group of women who want to develop their talent and achieve their goals.

My focus is to help them on their journey towards realising their goals and fulfilling their true potential.

In sports, like in any other area, sometimes we can fall into the tragic habit of focusing on what makes more money. But it is equally important to maximise the opportunity to grow the game. Not lose and forget all the fantastic work and great foundations that we have put into place to do it.

With the World Cup in New Zealand approaching fast, a Six Nations starting in April and the Women’s Football European Championship happening next year, there is an excellent opportunity to showcase some of the best female talents worldwide.

And with that a massive opportunity for growth and to showcase everything that is great about women’s sport.

People are now, more than ever, in need of inspiration and excitement. And I think that is where all these big tournaments come in.

Sport has the ability and power to inspire, and sometimes we need role models in life to point us in the right direction.

We have seen amazing athletes who have inspired a new generation of women to pursue their dreams, not only in sports but in other aspects of their lives too. An example of this is Serena Williams and her incredible return to the top ranks in the world of tennis.

I would love to see many more women in the future, not only in sports but in all aspects of life, achieving everything they aim for and setting an example for the next generation.

I believe we are perfectly positioned to start building a new world where equality, diversity, and inclusion are our new ‘normal’, we just have to commit to making it a reality.
